How can CENIC Laboratory help?
In order to enable the manufacturer or importer to obtain INMETRO certification of the suspension shock absorber, CENIC laboratory performs all tests in conformity with the compulsory certification requisites.

What is the meaning of compulsory certification?
In Brazil the suspension shock absorbers were integrated into the ‘Sistema Brasileiro de Avaliação da Conformidade – SBAC’ (Brazilian Conformity Assessment System) through Ordinance Nº301, of July 231, 2011 which institutes for this product a compulsory certification method, to be performed by a Product Certification Agency – OCP accredited by INMETRO. Under SBAC, INMETRO is the agency  in charge for management of the Conformity Assessment Programs.
 In short, to manufacture and/or import shock absorbers in Brazil it is mandatory to comply with INMETRO regulations and to obtain certification.

Where to begin?
The first step is to find in INMETRO’s site an OCP – Product Certification Agency accredited for “Automotive Components”. Upon definition of the pertinent certification model and after having dealt with the initial stage of the project description and audit (or maintenance), the moment comes for the selection of the laboratory which is to perform the tests required for certification.

How to choose the test laboratory?
The selection of the laboratory can be made by the client together with OCP. INMETRO regulations feature a list of selection priorities, the foremost being that the laboratory be of third party, accredited by INMETRO’s CGCRE for the tests called for by the certification.
As regards type services providers, the laboratories are classified as follows:
First party: manufacturer’s or supplier’s laboratory;
Second party: buyer’s laboratory
Third party: Previously accredited laboratory without any ties to supplier or client.

How does CENIC Laboratory fit in?
CENIC Laboratory does not include in its shareholding structure any manufacturers, importers or buyers of any type of product; therefore it is a laboratory of third party, neutral, of repute, independent and free from pressures of the interested parties.
